I’m following a dream 🎙️
This is a very honest email everyone, so bear with me as I share some big news and let you in to my thought process behind it...
It’s a really big day here at sidekick HQ. And quite honestly, I’m feeling the most imposter syndrome-y I have felt in quite a while. That’s probably a good thing, right? Because it suggests I’m pushing the boat out and trying to grow?
That’s what I’m telling myself because let’s be honest, it’s also quite possibly not a good thing, because I could be about to do something that leaves me feeling very exposed and might not work out at all like I had hoped. As much as I am working on it, I don’t naturally love the idea of failure.
But courages favours the brave, yes?
Today, I am launching my new podcast, You’re Better Than That. And yes, I know everyone has podcast these days, and yes, I know it’s a saturated space, and yes, I know there are some incredible ones out there. I’ve gone over and over in my head a million times why not to do this.
But it’s something I have had on my dream list for a very long time. And that, has become reason enough to give it a go.
On top of this, the *overwhelming* key piece of positive feedback I get from everyone who comes to one of my workshops, or interacts with my coaching, tells me that it’s my stories, anecdotes and the ability to think and communicate *in the moment* that makes what I do special. And quite honestly, to date, I just haven’t been able to effectively capture the spirit of this in any of my social media or comms to date. And so, I’m giving this channel a go, because I think it might just suit my style better.
Less script, more honesty, less edits, more story.
Why have I called it ‘You’re Better Than That’?
In every episode, I want to encourage each of us to aim for more. To refuse to settle for a second-rate version of ourselves. To push us to lead lives that have meaning and fulfilment and are not just full of the day-to-day grind of chores, obligations and to-do lists. How to really know who we are and get better at being that person. Because you at your best is something to behold. Something that will give your life more joy and purpose, and to the people around you, too.
And so today is episode one. I’d love you to take a listen. It would be even better if you subscribed, or told a friend. And the best would be to tell me how it’s impacted your thinking.
If a longer listen isn’t for you, then you’ll also find short snippets on my socials - follow along @hellohannahmiller to keep up to speed.
Your emails, encouragements, stories and messages when something resonates with you really do make a difference to my work. You’ve given me the confidence to give this a go, and for that I will be eternally grateful for. Even if the only person listening is my mom.
In this week's episode, we look at the concept of Letting Go to help us move on and some of the highlights include:
Workshop Wisdom: I kick things off by sharing insights from a recent workshop I led, focusing on reviewing and reflecting on the past year. As a self-professed "hundred miles an hour person," finding time for reflection is a challenge, but workshops and coaching spaces play a crucial role in making it happen.
The Power of Reflection: We explore the value of these reflective practices, emphasizing the external push they provide to make us pause, ask deep questions, and celebrate our wins.
Letting Go & Celebrating Wins: The heart of our conversation centers around the importance of letting go. Monthly check-ins become a practical tool for celebrating victories and addressing areas that need improvement regularly.
Personal Reflection: I get personal as I share my journey through a long-term situation—my mom's health struggles. We discuss the power of letting go of expectations and finding gratitude in the present moment.
Leadership Insights: Shifting gears, we explore leadership, discussing the significance of letting go of unmet goals. I introduce the idea of leaders embracing vulnerability over perfectionism for team growth.
Practical Takeaways: As we wrap up, I leave you with actionable advice for letting go in personal, professional, and leadership spheres. It's all about creating space for growth and new opportunities.
