Life Lately: Big Changes and Unexpected Events

Hello everyone,

How are you?

I mean, really, how are you? When was the last time you paused and asked yourself that question?

If you’re anything like me, life moves so fast that actually stopping to reflect on what’s happening—and how it’s affecting you—can feel like a luxury.

But I’m realising more and more how important it is.

Reflection isn’t just about checking in on your mental health (though that’s a big part of it); it’s also about making progress.

It’s about taking a step back to look at what’s been going on, challenging your own assumptions, and finding unexpected connections between your experiences.

For me, it’s become less of a “nice-to-do” and more of a “need-to-do.”

Life is full, isn’t it? Every day brings a mix of wonderful moments, challenges, and everything in between. If I don’t make time to reflect, I risk becoming a passenger in my own life—just going through the motions and missing out on opportunities to grow, appreciate what I have, and stay connected to my purpose.

One way I’m carving out that time is through my Life Lately podcast episodes.

This is only the second one, but you’ve told me you love the more personal content, so we’re making it a regular feature.

If you haven’t listened yet, these episodes are a behind-the-scenes look at my life—work, home, family, relationships, the highs, the lows, and everything in between. I share how I’m really doing, what I’m learning, and a few nuggets that (hopefully!) resonate with all of us.

This week’s episode dives into some big changes and unexpected events in my life right now.

Here’s a peek at what I talk about:

How my Christmas went

Short version? A lovely Christmas Day but a challenging lead-up—and what I realised about what matters most.

Saying goodbye to our son for six months

How I’m navigating that emotional rollercoaster.

What The Traitors teaches us about groupthink

How we influence and are influenced by others—for better or worse (don’t worry, no spoilers!).

How I feel about New Year’s

Listening to what you actually need vs. what you think you “should” be doing.

When your content goes viral (and you experience your first trolls)

What I’ve learned about understanding what people really need from you

Starting the year by hitting a parked car

And the lessons in letting go when someone reacts in a way you didn’t expect.

And more

I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I enjoyed recording it. It gave me the chance to reflect—and I hope it sparks some reflection for you, too.

Before I go, let me leave you with one quote, one stat, and one question to mull over:

1 quote

“Sometimes we let life guide us, and other times we take life by the horns. But one thing is for sure: no matter how organized we are, or how well we plan, we can always expect the unexpected.” — Brandon Jenner

1 stat

Did you know that, according to YouGov, 20% of Britons say they’d rather be a traitor, while 55% would prefer to be faithful? (Traitors fans, where do you stand?)

1 question

What unexpected events or changes have shaped you recently, and how have you responded to them?

Love,
