How about we do it now? 🚶
Hello fellow procrastinators.
I know you are. Well, I’m 98% sure that you are.
I recently did a poll on my Instagram stories to help me prepare for this podcast episode and 98% of you admitted to at least sometimes procrastinating. I think the other 2% of you are either amazing or not telling the truth ;)
Procrastination is a part of life. It’s a part of life that can drive me crazy - when I see it in myself, but probably even more so when I see it in others. I want to yell, JUST DO THE THING! Put the plate in the dishwasher, do the homework, hang your clothes up, put the bins out, pick up the phone, send the email, do the revision, post the card, do the washing, and and and…
Yes, all compassion goes out the window (especially if it’s something I want doing). But if it was that easy, none of us would ever do it. Procrastination is a part of life, so we’ve got to learn to work with it.
Perhaps even think about it a bit differently.
What about if it’s sometimes helpful?
What about if it’s almost unavoidable?
How about if we looked at it differently?
Most of the things we struggle with can't just be solved by slapping a sticking plaster on the situation. Irritatingly we need to go a bit deeper and look at the reasons behind why we are doing what we are doing. Only then can we start to make the right kind of plan to change and grow. In this week’s episode we get stuck into this topic and rather than just berating ourselves for sometimes not getting the right stuff done, we look a little deeper under the surface, and cover amongst other things...
• What do we procrastinate?
• Why do we do it?
• How to stop doing it
• The problem with perfection paralysis
• Why settling can be a good thing
• The problem with the rock, pebble, sand story
• Making hard choices
I loved this episode - I hope it gives you some food for thought. Let me know what you think, and if you’ve got any more brilliant ideas to contribute then hit reply and let me know!
