when’s the next holiday? 🏖️
S T O R Y
I am one of those people that can be found researching holidays on holiday. It really gets on my family’s nerves - “why can’t you just be present on the holiday you’re on?” It’s partly because I love the planning and the organising of a holiday almost as much as the holiday, and it’s partly because I am already a bit sad that it's going to be over and so I want something to look forward to straight away.
In some ways there is absolutely nothing wrong with this, holidays are fun, it’s natural to think that unpacking is rubbish, and for all of us, things in the diary that are replenishing (whatever that might be) are very important.
BUT - if, on reading this, you recognise that you are dreading going back to normality, or going back to work, then something’s not right. If there’s more of a gnawing, nagging, churn in your stomach - then something’s e.got to give.
It’s not good enough that you’re living just for the next holiday.
L E A R N I N G
- Holidays matter but real life is crucial
- When we are living for the next break, it's a symptom of an underlying issue
- Your everyday life needs deserve balance and purpose
